Fullerton UCC means many different things to the people who worship here; those who come here do so for many different reasons. We asked our members to explain why they come here, and what this church means to them. Perhaps someone's answer will provide you with a reason to come visit us.
I come to the Congregational Church of Fullerton because ...
- I feel part of a loving, caring, community.
I am free to search for understanding and truth on my own, and not feel I must affirm things I don't believe.
- It is my family. It is where I get spiritual renewal and opportunities to serve the community and the world in the name of Jesus Christ.
- I meet people of all kinds and feel welcome here.
- I started coming here because I needed a place I could bring friends who need an experience of Christ, yet would not be comfortable in a "formal" church. The social activism of the congregation is a witness to what Jesus is really about.
- The church is Open & Affirming. I can bring my whole self to church and be welcomed. I also appreciate that being gay is not considered to be the most important part of my being, that the church just sees me as a whole person.
- When I despaired of ever finding a church that would fit my world view, I happened upon one that seemed to welcome them all.
- My life wouldn't be complete without coming to this place of worship; my family grew up with these people. So far [I've been coming] for 44 years!
To me, the Congregational Church of Fullerton means ...
- compassion through doing.
- a circle of friends who join me in trying to follow the way of Christ in the here and now.
- inclusive love.
- a place where our daughter has grown up with an extended family of support and love. It has been a place where she has grown up in an environment of tolerance, acceptance, inclusion, and diversity. It has been a foundation that has been fostered by example of the members of Fullerton UCC.
